About this Event

Join MAAA for a Financial Literacy series that'll help your organization build real resilience and staying power — brought to you in partnership with Propel Nonprofits!

Uncertain times call for a steady hand on the finances. That's why we've put together this three-part series to help your organization prepare to not just survive, but thrive. We'd love for you to join us for all three sessions to get the most out of it:

  • Assessing Your Financial Health — Nov. 4th
  • Managing Cash Flow — Feb. 9th
  • Scenario Planning — Apr. 6th

These sessions are free to attend and designed to be hands-on, so bring your actual budgets, numbers, and scenarios — you'll get more out of it that way. It also helps to bring an organizational buddy along! Executive Directors, Board Leadership, Finance and Operational staff all bring different perspectives, and learning alongside a colleague (and asking each other questions) makes the material stick.

Doors open at 9:00 am for registration, the workshop kicks off at 9:30 am, and afterward we'd love for you to stick around, keep the conversation going, and connect with EDP staff at our BYO Lunch at 11:30 am.

A couple of quick notes:

  • We recommend attending all three sessions,
  • Register whoever on your team most closely matches that day's topic.
  • Space is limited to 50 attendees per session, so we ask each organization to send no more than two people per session.

Feb 9th: Managing Cash Flow

Info: Having a balanced budget doesn't always mean you have cash in the bank when you need it. Nonprofits often face cash flow challenges due to seasonal revenue, reimbursement-based contracts, grant timing, and unexpected expenses. This workshop will introduce practical tools and strategies for forecasting and managing cash flow so your organization can plan ahead, avoid financial stress, and make informed decisions with confidence. Participants will learn how to build and use cash flow projections to anticipate challenges and support their mission year-round.

Apr. 6th: Scenario Planning

Info: We have all learned skills to build assumptions that reliably helped us predict the next year or two for our organizations. But what do you do when you find your carefully developed budgets, forecasts, and plans suddenly turned upside down? Now you're not sure your tools still work, but you know you must do something.

Join us for this interactive session as we explore how to assess your current and future financial positions by developing new scenario and contingency plans for your organization's budget. This session will provide techniques for having practical conversations critical to organizational decision making, while providing analytical tools to understand the risks to your income and the flexibility of your expenses.

This workshop is designed to be collaborative and hands-on. Organizations are encouraged to have more than one person attend so they can do this work together.
