Join us for Nonprofit Advocacy in Action, a training by Julie Johnson on practical ways to share important updates and info with lawmakers.
About this Event

Join us for a presentation by Julie Johnson, longtime attorney and nonprofit advocate, about best practices for engaging officeholders about the important work your organization is doing. Johnson is a lawyer, lobbyist, and former cabinet secretary under Govs. Mickelson and Janklow. She also has been deeply involved in various roles with nonprofits over the years. Johnson is uniquely positioned to understand what nonprofits need, what resonates with lawmakers and state officials.

Johnson will talk about advocacy in the nonprofit sector, what it is, what the "guard rails" around nonprofits in public policy are, why advocacy is important, and how to tell your stories effectively to policymakers.

Please bring your questions and examples so the session is meaningful to you.
