About this Event

Non-Violent Communication (NVC) for Peace and Justice: Moving from Judgment to Understanding

In a community dedicated to global impact, communication is a very vital tool. Yet, even among those sharing the same values, tense conversations and misunderstandings are inevitable. How we navigate those moments determines the strength of our ecosystem.

Join us on June 19th at The Hague Humanity Hub for a 2-hour experimental session led by Sabine Morf, a Certified NVC Trainer. NVC is not about "being nice"; it is a practical framework for identifying what is meaningful and asking for what matters without blame or pressure.

What you will gain:

  • The Jackal & The Giraffe: Learn to recognize the language of blame and shift toward empathy.
  • The Four-Step Framework: Move from reactive patterns to clear, intentional communication.
  • Decoding Judgement: Practice identifying the universal human needs hidden behind criticism.
  • Inner Space & Choice: Use "needs-awareness" as an anchor to explore creative solutions instead of defensive reactions.

Why should you join this session?

This workshop is designed for professionals in the peace and justice community who want to:

  • Collaborate effectively across diverse perspectives.
  • Turn conflict into moments of genuine connection.
  • Build resilient relationships to strengthen the peace and justice ecosystem.
  • Transform friction into shared clarity for focused energy toward impact.

Looking Ahead: Based on interest, we will offer a 5-week basic NVC course in the fall of 2026 (2.5 hours per week) to dive deeper into these practices.

This workshop is a partnership between The Hague Humanity Hub and Dialogue Garden. The Hague Humanity Hub is a vibrant platform for changemakers to collaborate towards a peaceful and just world. Dialogue Garden offers customized workshops and one-on-one support based on Non-Violent Communication (NVC) techniques: a compassionate communication framework designed to foster connection and navigate conflict. This activity is part of the Connection Platform, enabling the creation of an inclusive and dynamic Hub that fosters collaboration, learning, and networking among a diverse community of members and partners, while enabling expertise sharing by Hub members and partners.
