NOLA Black Mental Health Matters Present: Beats & Balance

We are NOLA Black Mental Health Matters, a collective of Black mental health professionals working to reduce mental health stigma and eliminate barriers to treatment by providing programming that advocates for healing and wellness within cultures of Black New Orleans. In support of our mission, we are planning Beats and Balance, a party with a purpose. This event will serve two functions: creating a safe space for community members to connect and release stress through dance while also learning more about the organization and other local resources. While there will be dancing and communing, attendees needing to take a moment away from the party can utilize the decompression space specifically designed to encourage relaxation and rest sponored by Dream House Lounge. The party will also include an activation called “Ask a Therapist,” where attendees can have brief one-to-one conversations with a licensed clinician in the community who can answer questions about matters like finding a therapist and expectations for the first session. Attendees will have an opportunity to donate to the NOLA Black Mental Health Matters Therapy Fund, as well.
