JUNE 23 // alana amore colvin // noise is a riot: community organizing in the avant-garde

this workshop traces a history of grassroots organization in avant-garde music with an ear towards the possibilities within the scene today!
alana amore colvin (she/they) is a brooklyn based avant-garde guitarist and composer. Their sound sits somewhere in the balance between soft intimate tones and raw distorted noise all in celebration of guitar and afro-folkloric traditions. You can catch colvin playing with Ryan Easter’s Trap Music Orchestra and Selendis Alexander Sebastian Johnson’s Big Band. In smaller context she is 50% of the improv guitar duo, military kids (featuring Nathan Chamberlain), 33% of unspecified trio (featuring Connner Simmons & Sunjay Jayaram), and can often be found hanging around Alfredo Colon, Mali Obomsawin, Lemuel Marc, and Cameron Campbell.

their debut EP, huckleberries & lullabies, is out everywhere except spotify. might be a cool listen
