An evening of flamenco music and dance to celebrate the life and work of Nina Menendez, founder and artistic director of Bay Area Flamenco
About this Event

As we approach the one year passing of Nina Menendez, we come together as a community of artists and friends to share, remember, honor and celebrate a Bay Area legendary flamenca. A dedicated aficionada of the art form and a wonderful singer in her own right, Nina devoted the last 20 years of her life to doing what she loved best, producing extraordinary flamenco events. As founder and Artistic Director of Bay Area Flamenco/Festival Flamenco Gitano, Nina brought some of the most renowned artists from Spain to perform on large and small stages all over the Bay Area, hosting workshops, seminars, residencies and backyard fiestas – building a cultural bridge between Andalucia and the Bay Area. At the same time, while exposing audiences to the richness of traditional flamenco, she supported and nurtured local talent. Her tireless efforts to create and enrich the flamenco scene will be remembered and missed for a very long time. Olé Nina!

NOTE: Please join us in the lounge at La Peña at 5 pm to gather with friends and community in memory of our beloved Nina. The cafe Los Cilantros will be open to purchase food and wine. Doors to the theater will open at 6pm.
