Noble Reds of Italy Masterclass

Join us (Super Nouveau) in welcoming Peter Van de Reep for an educational, Italian red wine tasting. He will guide us through the six wines he has carefully selected and answer any and all questions you may have! While this is a "masterclass" and we will be diving deep into this wine region, all education levels are welcome!

Peter Van de Reep is a Vancouver, BC based sommelier and hospitality professional, currently working as the head sommelier at L’Abattoir in historic Gastown. With more than 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry, he has become a recognized leader in British Columbia’s wine and beverage community. He was named the 2020 BC Sommelier of the Year by the Canadian Association of Professional Sommeliers and earned the Court of Master Sommeliers Advanced Certification in 2024. He is now pursuing the Master Sommelier Diploma, with one attempt in 2025. Peter holds a B.Sc. in Geological Sciences from the University of British Columbia. Peter competed in the 2021 and 2023 Best Sommelier of Canada competitions, was a finalist in the 2022 Guild of Sommeliers Online Wine Competition, and received the Premier Crew award for outstanding Front of House professionals at the 2023 Vancouver Magazine Restaurant Awards.

Outside of the restaurant, he can often be found reading (usually something wine-related), or listening to a new record, ideally with a glass of grower Champagne or riesling, followed by an amaro. He believes there is a perfect beverage for everyone, whether it’s a Kabinett Riesling, a barrel-aged sour beer from Vancouver, an herbal amaro from the Marche, a complex sheng pu-erh from Yunnan, or a microlot coffee from Yirgachefe. His passion lies in discovering these delicious things and sharing them with others. Peter’s work and projects have been featured in the Michelin Guide, The New York Times, Wine & Spirits Magazine, The Globe and Mail, Canada’s 100 Best, Vancouver Magazine, Western Living, the Vancouver Sun, Scout Magazine, the Georgia Straight, Ricardo Magazine, Montecristo and more.
Who are we? Super Nouveau is a female, queer owned and run wine tasting group in Vancouver. Jess, Olivia, and Chloe are all young, curious, industry professionals pursuing careers in wine. We love hosting tastings for our friends, colleagues, and strangers interested in learning more about wine! Super Nouveau tastings range from teaching what to bring to your next dinner party, to masterclasses hosted by our peers. We look forward to welcoming everyone into our space and learning together!
