NOAH: A FUTURE HOPE

Our world is experiencing a climate catastrophe with far-reaching consequences. Planet earth is at a tipping point, and people across the globe need to unite and proactively participate in ensuring a sustainable future for the earth and all its life forms.

In the midst of the challenges of climate change, the epic story of Noah, one of the most well-known flood stories in history, has much to teach us. This quintessential tale is deeply embedded in the faith traditions of Judaism, Christianity and Islam who see Noah as a spiritual figure who serves as a reminder of humanity’s role as a protector, steward and caretaker of creation.

​Through seven lessons drawn from the story of Noah, this timely exhibition titled NOAH: A Future Hope features three premier contemporary artists from the faith traditions of Judaism, Christianity and Islam whose artistic practices uniquely blend their spiritual, cultural and creative expression - Yona Verwer, Brian Whelan and Hady Boraey.

Each artist has created eight paintings that serve to visually inspire our imaginations to heal our world by honoring our intricate connection to the earth as our sustainer, and by maintaining a sacred balance with all of life that is upon it.

What can the Noah flood narrative teach us about how we should live towards preserving the earth both for ourselves and future generations? That is the question this poignant exhibition attempts to answer.
