No-Cost EKG Screenings for Student Athletes
Beginning with the 2026–27 school year, under Florida's "Second Chance Act," all first-time incoming high school student athletes must obtain a cleared electrocardiogram (EKG/ECG) before participating in tryouts, practices or interscholastic athletic competition.

To help families get ready for the season ahead, Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital is partnering with Who We Play For to offer EKG / ECG screenings for children and young adults ages 10–21 at no cost to the families. Online registration is required.
Screenings are available at multiple locations, including:
• Hollywood
• Miramar
• Coral Springs
• Wellington

An EKG (ECG) is a quick, painless test that measures the heart's electrical activity and can help identify certain heart conditions before symptoms appear.

Before your appointment:
• Complete the required online consent form.
• Avoid exercise for at least 20 minutes before your screening.
Because getting ready for the season starts with making sure your child's heart is ready, too.
