Bachata & Salsa | Level-Based Instruction
NJ Salsa offers structured Bachata and Salsa programs designed to guide dancers from no experience to social dancing. The NJ Salsa curriculum grounds participants in the basics & fundamentals. The instructors then reinforce this foundation with drills designed to develop proficiency.
Bachata (Level 1), 7-8pm
Foundations for Social Dancing
The Bachata (Level 1) program lays the foundation for bachata social dancing through a structured curriculum of basic steps and fundamental movements. This class includes structured drills that prepare participants for social dancing in a supportive and welcoming environment. No prior experience required
Bachata (Level 2), 7-8pm
Technique, Musicality & Partnerwork
The Bachata (Level 2) program builds upon the foundations established in Level 1 and challenges dancers to expand their movement, awareness, and partner-work with greater attention shown to efficacy in leading & following. While no formal assessment is required, instructors reserve the right to limit participation for dancers who have not yet demonstrated sufficient proficiency in foundational skills.
Salsa (Level 1), 8-9:15pm
Beginner Program | Foundations for Social Dancing
The Salsa (Level 1) program is a series of beginner-friendly classes created to prepare participants for salsa social dancing. From the very first class, participants are taught partner-work skills, and we strongly encourage Level 1 participants to begin social dancing at the social after class. Applying new material while it is fresh is essential for steady progress.
Salsa (Level 2), 8-9:15pm
Advanced Beginner - Intermediate Program | Flow, Precision & Application
The Salsa (Level 2) program builds directly on the Level 1 curriculum and assumes familiarity and a sense of proficiency with the foundational material. There is a substantial difference in pace between the Level 1 and the Level 2 program, however, most of what is taught in Level 2 can be thought of as an elaboration of the foundational material in Level 1. Throughout the Level 2 program, we will strengthen our foundation, and pay greater attention to clean technique. An assessment is strongly recommended before joining the Level 2 program.
SOCIAL, 9:15-10pm
After our classes, we host a social at no additional cost to people who are enrolled in our Salsa programs. The social begins at 9:15pm. We encourage the participants in all of our classes to practice by social dancing, since it is the practical application of the knowledge learned in class. See you on the dance floor!
