About this Event
NJ Farmers, want to turn your waste into a valuable resource? Would you like to reduce your manure disposal and fertilizer costs? Be a more environmentally friendly farmer?
The NJ Department of Ag has developed a two part FREE course taught by the NJ Composting Council and Rutgers University designed to teach horse-farmers how to properly handle, store, compost and utilize horse manure.
Part One of the course is an online workshop designed to teach the fundamentals of how to compost, show you technology options, regulations, nutrient management, how to take advantage of NRCS funding and more. While designed for horse farmers, the principles of composting remain the same for other organic waste and we encourage all farmers considering how they can reduce their waste handling costs and be a better environmental steward to join us. To attend this webinar on Wednesday July 10th from 5:30pm - 7:30pm EDT continue the registration on this page.
Part Two of the course is an in-person field day designed to get you some hands-on experience with the technologies and processes associated with manure composting. To sign up for the field day, click on this . Note, space is limited to 45 people for the field day so sign up early.
Funding for this course is provided by the USDA National Resource Conservation Service.
