D.F.WU Presents: NINA KOHOUT
In 2021, Slovakia-born, UK-based artist Nina Kohout won the Radio_Head award for the Newcomer of the Year (curated by the Slovak national radio), which she received for her debut single ‘Blue Sunray’. Her critically acclaimed debut EP Pandemonium (incl. the song ‘Moonlight’ featured as the Song of the Day by KEXP Radio) got Nina’s name mentioned in BBC Radio 6 Music and music magazines such as Under the Radar, Louder than War, and Electronic Sound magazine. In 2024, she released her highly anticipated debut album, Gentle Autopsy, further cementing her place in the music scene. Her past shows include playing at the iconic Hackney Church in London, Kino Šiška in Ljubljana, Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts in Brighton, Santeria in Milan, Waves Vienna Festival, Liveurope Festival in Prague, as well as the biggest European showcase festival Eurosonic in the Netherlands.

Cinematic, 70s-esk avant/prog/folk/rock might just about cover it. Once described as ‘Future Mac’, the band’s sound holds dark otherworldly tones of introspection and contemplative realism alongside soft and melancholic beauty.
Starting as a recording project between Fletcher Pearce(vocals and guitar) and Tula Gartmayer(vocals and bass) in the trepid hues of the pandemic, using a rip off 808 drum machine and a 16 track recorder. The pair released 3 tracks together but were soon adorned by Max Valencia on drums, Tom Inkpen on guitar and James Virtue on bass; moving the band to its inevitable nature.
Baby Gem have been captivating Brighton audiences with their journey driven shows for over a year now and are just getting started, with the release of their debut E.P on the horizon for later this year.
+ TAGORE CHAYNE
Tagore Chayne is an Alt Folk/Americana songwriter born in Brighton, based in South London. Raised on their punk mother’s rock n roll compilation CDs, and influenced by their time spent in the mountains of Appalachia, Tagore’s songs are a melting pot of queerness, outlaw country, and folk. With their visceral and evocative live performances, Tagore transports their audience to the warmth of the campfire, with stories that spin between sincerity and hilarity, absurdity and darkness, telling tales of everyday life.
