NIGHTMARE ALLEY- Disney Restorations Series

NIGHTMARE ALLEY (1947)
Based on the book by William Lindsay Gresham. From the thousands of films acquired by Disney when they purchased the film library of the 20th Century-Fox studio in 2019, this 1947 film was among the first that was scheduled for preservation and restoration, partially because of the 2021 remake which stars Bradley Cooper. The original film adaptation, now stunningly restored, stars Tyrone Power in a role like you have never seen him. Playing against type, he is a thoroughly evil carnival mentalist. Joan Blondell and Coleen Gray also star. The Film Noir "Nightmare Alley" plays the Orinda for one day only, Saturday, November 7. Two showings are offered, at 1 and 7 p.m.
Disney acquired the entire 20th Century-Fox film library in 2019 and began preservation of the collection, with select complete restorations each year.
The Orinda Theatre is proud to offer the Disney restorations series, which continues through December 2026 on the first Saturday of each month, offering the first ever year-long tribute to the work of the WDSMP Restoration and Library Management Department at any theatre in the USA.
Projection format: DCP, screened by a qualified projectionist from Local 107 of the IATSE.
