Join us for an evening of chills and thrills at Page Against The Machine on 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟭𝟴𝘁𝗵 at 𝟳:𝟬𝟬𝗽𝗺. Dive into the dark side of literature with haunting readings by featured writers 𝗝𝗼 𝗞𝗮𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻 and 𝗦𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗺𝗼𝗻 𝗩𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘇 along with the evening's host of the ghosts, 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗲 𝗦𝗶𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗮.
If the spirit moves you, step up to the mic and share your own spine-tingling stories or poems in our open mic session after the features. There will also be a costume contest for those who dare to dress in their most ghoulish or ghostly attire! Prizes await for the best-dressed participants.
𝗝𝗼 𝗞𝗮𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻 is the Shirley Jackson Award nominated author of 𝘐𝘵 𝘞𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘑𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘉𝘦 𝘜𝘴 and 𝘞𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘕𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘉𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘴 𝘙𝘪𝘯𝘨. Her short stories have appeared in 𝘍𝘪𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘘𝘶𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘭𝘺, 𝘉𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘬 𝘚𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘤, 𝘕𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘮𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘔𝘢𝘨𝘢𝘻𝘪𝘯𝘦, and many others. In addition to writing, she teaches English and creative writing at Glendale Community College and is the co-chair of the Horror Writers Association’s Los Angeles chapter. She also plays cello in both the Symphony of the Verdugos and the band Guerra/paz.
𝗦𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗺𝗼𝗻 𝗩𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘇 is a self-taught writer/artist from Southeast Los Angeles. You can experience the eerie allure of his chilling tales, poetry, and essays at 𝘍𝘌𝘌𝘋 Lit Mag, 𝘈𝘭𝘦𝘣𝘳𝘪𝘫𝘦𝘴 𝘙𝘦𝘷𝘪𝘦𝘸, 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘖𝘧𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘚𝘪𝘯 𝘊𝘦𝘴𝘢𝘳.
𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗲 𝗦𝗶𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗮 (she/they) is a Latinx author from Pomona, CA. Their work has been featured in 𝘐𝘧 𝘐 𝘋𝘪𝘦 𝘉𝘦𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘐 𝘞𝘢𝘬𝘦: 𝘝𝘰𝘭 3 𝘛𝘢𝘭𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘋𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘭𝘺 𝘞𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘙𝘦𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘣𝘶𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯, 𝘔𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘶𝘮, and the 𝘓𝘰𝘴 𝘈𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘴 𝘛𝘪𝘮𝘦𝘴. Natalie is also the author of the poetry book 𝘔𝘦𝘥𝘶𝘴𝘢, the novel 𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘭𝘪𝘦, 𝘍𝘰𝘳𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘌𝘷𝘦𝘳, and the upcoming 𝘉𝘦𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘎𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘎𝘰𝘥, set for release in February 2025.
