Night Cityscape Photography Workshop
A workshop collaboration between Croydon Camera House and Benjamin Eriksson
Discover how to capture stunning long-exposure cityscapes after dark.
Join professional photographer Benjamin Eriksson for a hands-on photography workshop exploring Melbourne's vibrant city lights, reflections, architecture, bridges and waterways. Whether you're new to night photography or looking to improve your skills, this workshop will help you gain confidence shooting in low light.
You'll learn how shutter speed, aperture and ISO work together to create sharp, creative long-exposure images, while also gaining practical experience with:
- Long exposure photography techniques
- Manual camera settings
- Manual focusing in low light
- Composition and creative framing
- Capturing reflections and light trails
- Simple editing tips to enhance your images
This is a small-group workshop where you'll learn by doing, with plenty of individual guidance throughout the evening.
Locations
The workshop will commence at Hamer Hall, we’ll journey down the South side of the Yarra River, and conclude at Flinders Street Station.
What to Bring
- Camera and lens(es)
- Memory card with available space
- Fully charged battery (spare recommended)
- Tripod (loan tripods available if required)
- Remote shutter release (optional)
Fitness & Accessibility
Workshops typically involve 1.5–2km of walking at a relaxed pace while photographing various locations. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended.
Weather & Cancellations
Night photography can often benefit from light rain, creating beautiful reflections and atmosphere. If severe weather prevents the workshop from running, participants may transfer to another available date.
A minimum of three participants is required for the workshop to proceed.
If you are unable to attend, please notify us at least 48 hours before the workshop to transfer your booking to another available date.
