Formed in 2014, Nick Horner Family's sound lies at the nexus of groovy traditional Americana and jazz fusion. Despite the band's NYC roots and wide-ranging performance record which includes serving as house band for the United Nations' Habitat III conference in Quito, Ecuador, Horner notes that only the band's current Knoxville iteration has begun to truly live up to his vision. Early listeners of the bands forthcoming album, Wyalusing (due out later this year), likened their music to progressive bluegrass artists such as Bela Fleck and jazz groups like Brian Blade Fellowship, and others laud its adventurous melodies and eclectic arrangements. Horner's other projects have performed at festivals such as the Philadelphia and Tucson Folk Festivals, the Caramoor American Roots Festival, and on local stages such as The Bijou and Tennessee Theatre, Dogwood Arts Festival, and others. Nick Horner Family features Hunter Deacon on drums, Owen Tharp on bass, Cameron Moore on guitar, Ryan Dunaway on fiddle and Nicholas Horner on banjo and baritone ukulele.
