Two NICA artists are teaming up to present an evening as part of the NICA live series, featuring musicians from the Cologne scene. Jorik Bergman, flutist and composer, has a particular fondness for large ensembles and is equally at home in both musical exuberance and minimalism. Saxophonist and composer Jonas Engel is known for his extended playing techniques and prepared instruments, and moves effortlessly between acoustic and electronic soundscapes.
Kirsan Ojsemble is the name of the project initiated specifically for this evening. The participants know each other from various musical contexts and are well connected. Building on their shared musical journeys, they are now venturing into uncharted territory, bringing their respective musical languages together in this form for the first time. The outcome is deliberately left open, an evening that unfolds in the moment and through mutual listening.
