The talk also explores vital links with the home front, where families faced rationing. By connecting life at sea with life ashore, Ian Miller reveals how the struggle to feed a nation shaped the daily experiences of sailors and civilians alike. The event will entail a 45 minute talk by Ian Miller in the historic surroundings of HMS Caroline. Following its conclusion guests will then be treated to a rare late-night self-guided tour of the historic spaces of HMS Caroline to see where the crew worked, slept and ate, finishing at the ship's original galley dating from 1914.
