Ngā Tae o te Whenua A creative kaupapa grounded in kaupapa Māori, for people drawn to whenua, natural materials, and the practice of making colour with care and intention.
We explore the process of earth-based pigments, using materials sourced with tikanga and respect for the whenua.
We will share tools, knowledge, and time — allowing space to grind, mix, observe, and create alongside one another.
Expect colour, chaos, play, and a little bit of magic
This is a small rōpū, suited to those who wish to learn through doing, to experiment, and to work with natural colour in a way that honours
process over outcome.
No prior experience is needed. You are welcome as you are.
All resources are provided for you to take home 3 samples of pigments.
Please bring along 2/3 jars along when any other whenua samples you may have collected and would like to sample.
Refreshments provided.
