March 14 • 3pm • Gilroy High School Dr. Deborah Flores Student CenterThe South Valley Symphony, South Bay Singers, and Gilroy High School Choral Ensembles unite for an inspiring afternoon of orchestral and choral collaboration, celebrating both emerging artistry and cross generational community music making.
The concert will feature the winner of the 17th Navaroli Young Musician Competition, Sora Corro, performing:
• Piano Concerto in A minor by Edvard Grieg
One of the most beloved piano concertos in the repertoire, Grieg’s concerto blends virtuosic brilliance with lyrical Nordic warmth, offering a powerful showcase for young artistry supported by full orchestra.
The South Valley Symphony will also present:
• Finlandia by Jean Sibelius
With its sweeping melodies and stirring hymn like conclusion, Finlandia has become an enduring symbol of resilience and national identity.
The culminating portion of the program brings together South Bay Singers, Gilroy High School Choirs, and South Valley Symphony in a large scale choral collaboration featuring:
• Serenade to Music by Ralph Vaughan Williams featuring GHS Alumni Andrew Hathaway, Elizabeth Resendiz and Alex Green as well as our NYC/Carnegie Hall soprano Sarah Schoeder.
• Gloria by John Rutter
These works unite more than 130 singers and 65 instrumentalists in a vibrant celebration of shared artistry.
This performance is especially meaningful as it brings together high school students experiencing a major choral work with orchestra for the first time, seasoned community musicians with decades of performance tradition, and singers rediscovering their musical voice. Their diverse experiences coalesce into a single collaborative expression that reflects the power of belonging, mentorship, and collective creativity within our local community.
