Next Steps in Woodcarving meets from 10am-1pm on April 7, 14, 21, 28 and picks up right where the intro class left off. We dig deeper into all aspects of relief carving, including: reading project prints, how to incorporate your own ideas into patterns, learning what the rest of the chisels in the set are used for, and most importantly, how to sharpen each of your chisels to achieve maximum enjoyment from your carving work. All wood is supplied as well as another set of heavy duty chisels and a mallet for the figurative and walking stick classes. To register, email [email protected].
Students complete another take-home project and begin an additional project of their own choice! Upon completion of this course students will be able to choose from a variety of classes like 3D figurative carving, wood spirit walking stick carving, or advanced relief carving that will impress everyone who sees your work!
Class size is limited to ensure personalized instruction. It is highly recommended that the student has successfully completed Jim’s Introduction to Wood Carving or have mastered basic skills and techniques. Students are expected to provide their own tools, and Jim will provide sources for purchasing a good set of chisels.
