About this Event
This CPD event isdesigned for GPs and physiotherapists involved in the assessment and management of patients with hip pain and degenerative joint disease. As more patients aim to remain active later in life, expectations around mobility, recovery, and long-term joint performance are evolving. This session will explore hip resurfacing as an alternative to traditional total hip replacement for carefully selected active patients.
The event will provide an overview of how hip resurfacing differs from conventional hip replacement, when it may be considered, and which patients may benefit most from this approach. For GPs, the session will highlight practical referral considerations and patient selection. For physiotherapists, it will offer insights into identifying patients who may require surgical opinion, as well as understanding postoperative expectations and rehabilitation considerations.
Led by orthopaedic specialists, the discussion will also cover outcomes, recovery timelines, and the potential for patients to return to higher levels of physical activity following resurfacing procedures. Attendees will gain practical knowledge to support informed conversations with patients and to better guide them through the treatment pathway.
This CPD session offers an opportunity to understand the evolving role of hip resurfacing and how next-generation approaches to hip replacement can support active patients in maintaining the lifestyles they value.
We look forward to welcoming you to Nuffield Health Leeds Hospital.
