In this group you will learn to work with our aerial hammock for increased flexibility, strength building and impressive final poses. Aerial hammock works using a U shaped soft fabric hammock closer to the ground than the other more circus styles of aerial, and offers a balanced class suitable for most abilities.
Aerial hoop (also known as lyra) is a great entry point to the more circus side of aerial arts, perfect for building confidence, upper body strength and focussing on form in each pose.
The rigid hoop is easier to control than aerial silks or trapeze and can be rigged to be more a more stable base for students worried about dizziness in aerial. Aerial hoop is a perfect tool for students looking to develop their practice into performances and can be used for βdancing in the airβ by choreographing poses into stunning flows.
Teens 11+ are welcome with a participating adult over the age of 18, and 16+ may attend unaccompanied, however this is an adult class and under 16s may not attend unaccompanied. Our aerial arts classes have a 21 stone/133kg weight limit. We share equipment between a maximum of 2 students in all our aerial circus disciplines for maximum air time.
This is a more challenging physical class than traditional yoga, please get in touch if you have a health condition that could limit your participation. If you are reasonably fit and healthy (able to climb stairs, lift a heavy box, walk unaided then this class should suit most people but you will work hard!). This class is not suitable to begin if you have active current vertigo, herniated or bulging spinal disks, glaucoma, arthritis which significantly limits your grip, are currently pregnant with no previous aerial experience or are within 6 weeks of giving birth. We pride ourselves on being an inclusive studio and welcome students beyond these safety limitations regardless of body type, fitness levels, physical limitations or disabilities or other restrictions. A free carers place is available for anyone who requires assistance to access our classes and is in receipt of middle or higher rate DLA or PIP. Please get in touch to discuss how we can ensure our classes are inclusive of your needs.
