Welcome to SRO's production of NEWSIES !

Newsies is a high-energy Broadway musical based on the real-life 1899 Newsboys Strike in New York City. It tells the story of Jack Kelly, a teenage dreamer who rallies his fellow newsies when powerful publisher Joseph Pulitzer raises newspaper prices, making it harder for the kids to earn a living.

With the help of new friends Davey and Les, and an ambitious young reporter named Katherine Plumber, Jack and the newsies organize, protest, and prove that even kids can stand up to injustice.

Packed with upbeat songs, thrilling dances, and plenty of heart, Newsies is about friendship, fighting for what’s right, and the power of young voices to change the world.
