BSHA Rising Star ‘Racehorse to Show Horse’, qualifier for London International Horse Show, RoR Tattersalls Amateur Ridden Show Series and Open In Hand Qualifier classes, all held at The National Horse Racing Museum hosted by RoR South East Region on Saturday 20th September 2025 in conjunction with National Horse Racing Museum, on the weekend of Newmarket Open Weekend.
For Both RoR qualifying classes you must provide your Horses RoR Registration number when entering.
Both the Amateur Ridden and Open In Hand Showing Series are RoR qualifying classes; the Amateur Ridden is for RoR Amateur Final at Hickstead and the In Hand is for RoR Championship Show at Aintree.
The BSHA Rising Star ‘Racehorse to Show Horse is a qualifier for London International Horse Show

Class 1 – BSHA Rising Star Series – Racehorse to Show Horse – London International Show Qualifier
Sponsor – Intradco Global Horse & Animal Transport
Time – 10.30am
Judge – Lucinda Haines
Rising Star Racehorse to Show Horse: Mare or gelding, 4 years old or over, exceeding 148cms. Open to Thoroughbred & Arab horses retired from race training. Rider to be 15yrs or over. The highest placed unqualified horse in the top 5 will qualify for the LIHS BSHA Rising Star Racehorse to Show Horse Supreme Final at the LIHS in December. This class is open to competitors who work within the racing industry.
QUALIFICATION WILL BE CONFIRMED BY EMAIL ONCE BSHA MEMBERSHIP IS UPGRADED FROM PRE-REGISTRATION, WITHIN 14 DAYS OF QUALIFICATION.
In addition, the two highest placed unqualified horses will qualify for the Associate Rising Star Racehorse to Show Horse Final at the BSHA National Championships Show September 2025. Associate Rising Star Qualification Cards will be awarded in the ring.

RISING STAR AMATEUR RULES FOR 2025
Open to members and pre-registered non-members, 15 yrs and over, eligible under Rising Star Amateur rules.
Competitors and horses must be pre-registered with the Association to be eligible to compete in the Rising Star series. Any competitor who qualifies for a Rising Star Supreme Final, must then complete full Rising Star registration within 14 days of qualification for their qualification to stand, or it will pass to the next eligible exhibit (the nominal cost of pre-registration will be taken off the cost of Full Rising Star registration).

Class 1 qualifies for LIHS BSHA Rising Star Supreme Finals at the London International Horse Show, highest placed unqualified in top five to qualify.
A results points table will run for all qualifying classes and a ‘wild card’ will be awarded to those unqualified with the highest points in each section following the final qualifier.
12pm Approx. - Judges/Volunteer/Secretary Lunch Break - Warm Up for Class 2.

Class 2 – Tattersalls RoR AMATEUR Ridden Show Series Qualifier 2024
Sponsor – Tattersalls Ltd
Additional Sponsor - Rossdales Veterinary Surgeons
Time – 1pm
Judge – Garry Merton
Open to all RoR and NR competition registered horses, 4yrs and over, mares and geldings, owned, produced and ridden by an Amateur. Riders must be 15 years or over on the 1st January 2025.
Horses should be ridden in a snaffle, Pelham or simple double bridle with a plain cavesson noseband. Horses should be plaited. Racing injuries and blemishes ARE IGNORED in this series.
The Series is open to AMATEUR riders only – those employed in racing will be allowed to compete. Class will be judged under ‘riding horse’ format without ‘type’ being taken into consideration.
The Judge will not ride in the qualifiers but will ride in the Final.
Competitors/handlers/grooms must wear a safety/kite mark hard hat with a chinstrap.
The first three go forward to the final at the Hickstead Derby Meeting June 2026.
Prizes – RoR rosettes 1st –4th plus Tattersalls RoR official merchandise voucher 1st £20, 2nd £10, 3rd £5, Highest placed Veteran (15+) £10.
For qualifiers held prior to July 31st, 2025, the winner will qualify for the Tattersalls RoR Amateur Ridden Show Series Special at the Jockey Club RoR National Championships on August 23rd 2025. Highest Placed Veteran qualifies for the RoR Ridden Veteran Final on the same day.
Amateur definition:
The rules are as in the rulebook with the following addition that an amateur may not show a horse owned or sponsored by a company or commercial firm. In addition, a person classed as an amateur must not be supported by a company in any way or act as brand ambassador whether financially or in-kind. An amateur is a person who for the purpose of RoR classes does not/has not during the current season or previous season:
Engage (d) in breeding, livery, buying or selling, dealing or hiring horses in a commercial capacity. Horses must not have been stabled at or reside in a Professional Producer's/Trainer's yard from January 1st, 2024. Riders must not have ridden any animals produced by a Professional/Trainer in the current or previous season. Horses and riders must not receive any help from a Professional Producer/Trainer at a SHOW in the current season. A rider who has ridden for a Professional/Producer Trainer in the current or previous season must not have ridden horses at a show. Any breaches of this ruling will be taken seriously and will result in disqualification from future classes.

Class 3 - Tattersalls RoR OPEN In Hand Show Series Qualifier 2026

Time – 2.30pm
Judge – Garry Merton
Open to all RoR and NR competition registered horses, 3yrs and over, fillies, mares and geldings. Handlers must be 15 years or over on the 1st January 2025.
Horses do not need to be shod to compete in the RoR Open In-Hand class. Horses can be shown in a bitless/In-Hand Bridle. Blemishes caused through racing will be ignored.
All those entering horses and/or participating in the show agree to be bound by the Retraining of Racehorses Rules and Regulations from time to time in force.
Handlers/grooms must wear a safety/kite mark hard hat with a chinstrap.
The first three go forward to the final at The Jockey Club RoR National Championships at Aintree, August 2026
