The 15th Annual Newington Rotary's Alex's Lemonade Golf
Tournament will be held Tuesday, September 29th, 2026, at
Indian Hill Country Club in Newington.
This year's RLGT is being dedicated to the memory of recently departed Newington Rotarian Charles Lowe. Charlie was a founding member of Newington Rotary, started in 1960, and a has been a member for 66 years. Charlie religiously attended meetings, volunteered and generously donated to many causes dear to him. Alex's Lemonade was Charlie's favorite cause and he was moved to help in every way. This wonderful tournament had special meaning to Charlie due to him losing a little brother to cancer as a small child. Help us honor Charlie by making this the best Tournament yet!!!
Alex's Lemonade Stand was created in 2000 by Alex Scott. Alex was 4 years old at the time and battling neuroblastoma, a type of childhood cancer. While in the hospital, she was determined to have a lemonade stand when she was released to raise money to give to doctors to allow them to "help other kids, like they helped me". In 2004, Alex passed away at the age of eight, knowing she had raised more than $1 million to help find a cure for the disease that took her life.
The Newington Rotary Club was introduced to Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation ("ALSF") by Alex's aunt, Sue Flynn, when she shared Alex's story. We decided to have an annual golf tournament with a large portion of the proceeds donated to ALSF. In the 14 years of our tournament, Newington Rotary has donated $325,000 to this inspiring cause. In addition, some of the tournament proceeds go back to our local community and beyond through various small donations and volunteering.
