BOURBON STREET - Australian four-piece rock band Bourbon Street (all original members) formed in Byron Bay, NSW, in February, 1987. The band enjoyed immediate success on the live circuit as a 70’s-styled high-energy cover band and soon began writing their own songs.
During the next 6 years, Bourbon Street played more live shows than any other band in Australia. They won multiple awards and released three albums before disbanding in September of ‘93.
Their debut LP, ‘Stronger Than Dirt’, released in ’88, featured a cover of Neil Young’s ‘Powder Finger’, which became the band’s traditional opener for live shows. A young Brisbane-based group at the time, largely influenced by Bourbon Street, chose this song’s title as their band’s namesake: Powderfinger.
Meanwhile, ‘Stronger Than Dirt’ went on to become a cult classic. It was re-pressed four times and is still in popular demand..
Their current repertoire features fan-favs from their albums and a mix of high-energy covers from The Doors, Led Zeppelin, Stones, AC/DC and other 70’s legends.
THE FERAMONES - was first conceived in the 1990's in London when 10CC guitarist Rick Fenn was asked to assemble a band of top shelf London session musicians for the Children with Leukemia charity ball at the Park Lane Hilton. The concept was, as it remains today, to perform tried and tested classics from the 70's+80's that never fail to keep the dance floor busy. The venture was so successful, over the next ten years the band was reassembled to play numerous show biz parties and events around the UK including performances for members of the Royal family and a host of celebrity private functions.
In 2000 Rick and fellow UK guitarist and Feramones regular, Alan Limbrick, established their homes in Byron Bay. When another Feramones veteran, Alan Park (keyboardist and musical director for Sir Cliff Richard) joined the boys in Byron, the nucleus for a more permanent line up was established. They recruited the famed Bourbon Street vocalist Col Germano, legendary Australia bassist Greg Lyon and drummer Rick Lloyd and Byron’s Beach Hotel has been their ‘home’ gig for over ten years, drawing a devoted crowd from all over the Northern Rivers.
