For Joshua: A Car Show with His Heartbeat
Six months ago, our world shattered. Our son Joshua — who lived with Down syndrome and filled every room with music, laughter, and pure joy — died from a preventable death in July 2025. Not from his diagnosis. Not from anything we could have prepared for. From preventable mistakes that stole him from us.
If you knew Joshua, you knew his headphones were practically part of him. Music was his language, rhythm was his comfort, and that steady heartbeat of bass was how he connected to the world. When he'd feel the vibration of engines at car shows, his whole face would light up — that same joy he found in every beat drop.
On February 21, 2026, Stop & Go — Home of Brakes for Less is hosting the New Year New Vibe Car Show in his memory. Those headphones and heartbeat line you'll see everywhere. That's him. That's our baby boy whose heart should still be beating.
Every dollar raised — from $15 bike entries, $20 cars, and $25 trucks/SUVs — goes to F.R.I.E.N.D.S., the Down syndrome advocacy organization that supported our family through Joshua's life and continues to support families like ours. They fight for better medical care, proper training, and accountability. They ensure kids with Down syndrome get the healthcare they deserve — not what Joshua got.
This isn't just about raising money. It's about raising voices. It's about turning our grief into something that protects other families from walking this nightmare. It's about celebrating a boy who deserved so much more time with us.
So, when you roll into our show, know that you're part of something bigger. You're keeping Joshua's heartbeat alive. You're standing with families who refuse to let our special needs citizens be treated any less than the rest of us. You're saying that every child — especially those with disabilities — deserves healthcare that honors their worth.
Come for the cars. Stay for the community. Leave knowing you've helped ensure no other family loses their Joshua the way we lost ours.
NEW YEAR. NEW VIBE. KEEPIN' DA BEAT ALIVE.
He loved car shows. He loved music. He loved people.
And we love him. Forever.
