Drawing from research in auditory cognitive neuroscience, he unpacks the science of musical reward, emotional regulation, and why certain sounds can shift our mood, reduce anxiety, or energize us within minutes. You’ll also discover how emerging tools - from AI-driven emotion prediction to auditory beat stimulation and smart playlists - are turning music into a scalable form of medicine.
And it’s not just about listening. Prof. Russo also explores why singing with other people may be one of the most underrated health interventions we have, with benefits for connection, mood, and physiology.
💡 About the incredible Professor Frank Russo
Frank Russo is Professor of Psychology at Toronto Metropolitan University and Chief Science Officer at LUCID Therapeutics.
His research examines how music influences emotion, brain function, and physiology—and how those effects can be translated into practical interventions for health and well-being.
He is a Fellow of the Canadian Psychological Association, the Canadian Society for Brain, Behaviour and Cognitive Science, and a Senior Fellow of Massey College.
