At Niten Institute, we teach the authentic lineage of Niten Ichi Ryu, the legendary style developed by samurai Miyamoto Musashi. Your free introductory class will be a direct entry point into this classical path, featuring a core of Kenjutsu (sword fighting) training in every session. You'll also be introduced to our rotating curriculum of Iaijutsu (sword drawing) and Jojutsu (staff work). Claim your spot and begin mastering the true arts of the samurai.

Welcome to Niten Institute! This FREE introductory class is your first step into a disciplined, historical, and effective martial arts journey.

This is not a demonstration—this is a hands-on training session where you will get a direct taste of authentic Koryu (traditional Japanese) weapon arts, all in one class.

Every introductory class includes fundamental training in Kenjutsu (Japanese swordsmanship) and rotates through our specialized curriculum, giving you a comprehensive experience of the Niten Institute method.

• Kenjutsu (Sword Fighting)
• Focus: Basic footwork, cutting angles, and posture using a bokken (wooden sword).
• Context: The fundamental combat system used by samurai on the battlefield.

• Niten Ichi Ryu (The Two-Sword Style)
• Focus: An introduction to the unique philosophy and strategy of legendary swordsman Miyamoto Musashi.
• Context: The original, powerful tradition founded by Japan's most famous sword master.
• Iaijutsu (The Quick Draw)
• Focus: Practice the skill of drawing the sword, cutting, and re-sheathing, focusing on explosive speed and precision.
• Context: The art of responding instantly to a sudden, close-quarters attack.
• Jojutsu (Short Staff Mastery)
• Focus: Training in basic blocks and strikes using the Jo (a wooden staff).
• Context: Practical, effective defense against a sword-wielding opponent.

• Anyone interested in the history, philosophy, and discipline of the Samurai.
• Beginners with zero martial arts experience are highly encouraged!
• Adults and responsible teens looking for a unique physical and mental challenge.

Please arrive 10 minutes early wearing comfortable athletic or workout attire (like sweatpants and a T-shirt).

• Comfortable clothing (no shorts or tank tops, please).
• A water bottle.
• All necessary training weapons (Bokken/Jo will be provided for your free class).
