This New Orleans trip is about experiencing living history.I’ll be visiting the legendary St. Louis Cemetery No. 1, where African, Indigenous, and Creole histories rest above ground, layered with memory and survival. I’ll also be taking an evening Mississippi River steamboat dinner cruise, with jazz in the air and the city glowing along the water that carried culture through centuries.
The heart of the journey is Super Sunday, a sacred cultural gathering of the Mardi Gras Indians — not a performance, but ceremony, artistry, and pride honoring African and Indigenous roots on American soil.
