The Ayni Despacho is a prayer bundle that brings our positive wishes, intentions, and ingredients for ourselves, the community, and Pachamama (Mother Earth).In Peruvian culture, despacho ceremonies are performed whenever there’s a marriage, birth, death, or other event worth commemorating. In this case, the despacho will welcome us into the New Year, bring changes into our lives and community, and bring new blessings.
In the ceremony, we will create the despacho with our dreams and intentions for the new year. As we create, we will feel the energy rise from the despacho. Then, we will build a sacred fire to release our prayers to the Great Spirit.
We also plan to chant, sing, drum, and rattle around the sacred fire. You can bring your drums and rattles, but Missy has plenty to borrow.
