Hickory City Schools is proud to announce that the special celebration honoring the 60th anniversary of the legendary Ridgeview High School Panthers football team, famously known as "The Untouchables," has been rescheduled to Friday, October 4, 2024.
A reception will take place from 5:30 to 6:30 PM in the Hickory High School Media Center, located at 1234 3rd St NE, Hickory, NC 28601. The team will be recognized before kickoff at 7:15 PM during the Hickory High School football game.
This event will pay tribute to the extraordinary achievements of the 1964 Ridgeview High Panthers, who completed "The Perfect Season," remaining undefeated and unscored upon with a remarkable cumulative score of 446-0. Their unprecedented accomplishment continues to be a beacon of excellence in the history of North Carolina high school football.
Dr. Jennifer Griffin, Superintendent of Hickory City Schools, expressed her excitement for the event: "The story of 'The Untouchables' is one of perseverance, unity, and unmatched excellence. We are honored to celebrate their legacy and inspire our students with their extraordinary achievements."
The event is open to the public, and all are encouraged to join this momentous celebration of local history. Entry to the game is $8.00, and the clear bag procedure will be in effect.
