About this Event
Nevada Naturalist Program, sponsored by the University of Nevda Extension, is an adult environmental education and volunteer training program geared toward conservation in southern Nevada.
- Enhance your education about the natural resources found in southern Nevada.
- Become a volunteer dedicated to conserving those resources with one of our partnering agencies.
In-person classes (with a zoom option) meet twice a week on Mondays and Wednesdays to discuss a variety of subjects: ecology, native flora and fauna, soils, geology, cultural and natural history, and more. In person only field trips follow on Saturdays to different destinations in the area.
This spring, you will have the opportunity to facilitate a Carp Rodeo at Pahranagat NWR; tour the Oak Creek Trail at Red Rock Canyon NCA; discover dinosaur foot prints at the Valley of Fire State Park; have the opportunity to view the Great Unconformity at Lake Mead NRA; visit Warm Springs Natural Area; and view migrating birds at the Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve, and more.
The session begins on Monday, March 31, 2025 at 6 pm and ends on Monday, May 19, 2025 at 9 pm.
To receive a certificate, participants are required to attend 70% of the classes and field trips; complete a "no stress" pre-and posttest; participate in a class project; and complete class evaluations.
The cost to register is $150 per person. Or, two people registering together for $200. The registration fee covers all books and materials, transportation to and from field trips, and some refreshments.
