Nevada Naturalist Program is an adult environmental education and volunteer training program sponsored by the University of NV Extension.
About this Event

Now in its 19th year, NV Naturalists can be found across the valley engaging in projects that benefit the community!

The NV Naturalist Program is delivered using a hybrid model. Participants attend in-person classes and field trips. However, they also have the option of attending the classroom lectures via Zoom. Field trips are delivered in-person only.

This session begins on October 14th and continues through November 18th.

Classes are held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6pm - 9pm at the University of NV Extension southern area campus: 8050 Paradise Rd., Las Vegas, NV 89123; and the field trips are on Saturdays at various times and locations.

The broad scope curriculum focuses on the natural resources found in southern NV.

Topics this session include: Nevada History; birds, bats, bees and butterflies; invasive plants; archaeology; conservation biology; southern NV soils, and more.

Join us as we delve into NV History at the Las Vegas Mormon Fort State Park; discover ancient civilizations at the Los City Museum; go on a birding "expedition" at the Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve, and more.

Our class volunteer opportunity this session is to participate in a Green-Up at the Warm Springs Natural Area.

The cost to register is $99 a person. Or, two people registering together for only $150. This registration fee covers the cost of all books, materials, entrance fees, field trip transportation from Extension, and some refreshments.

Registration is first come first serve and limited.
