A collaboration between Kinston Trashbashers, Common Ground of Eastern North Carolina, and the smART Kinston Foundation, Neuse Reuse is a multi-part community cleanup with an accompanying art exhibit. Trash collected during cleanups will be cleaned and sorted for use by local artists in their pieces.Spearheaded by smART Artist Annelise Brady, Neuse Reuse offers multiple ways to participate over the upcoming months.
The first event is the community cleanup of the Mitchelltown Arts & Cultural District in advance of BBQ Fest weekend. Join us on Tuesday, April 28th 5:30-7:30PM. We will be meeting at the corner of Mitchell and Blount St (The Flue sculpture). Visibility vests and trash grabbers will be provided before we disperse into the neighborhood.
🧑🎨Are you a local artist interested in participating in the project and exhibiting your work? Join us for a cleanup event to get first dips on the “best” trash for your preferred medium.
🖐️Are you an arts enthusiast eager to lend a hand and curious about what pieces could be transformed from trash to treasure? Join us to be a small part of transforming possibilities into finished pieces.
🏘️Are you full of civic pride and just want our town to look its best? Come help out.
✨Additional cleanup dates will be announced soon. For local artists interested in creating a piece for exhibit, a formal call will be shared, but be aware that all pieces must contain at least one item collected from a community cleanup and will need to be completed for drop off at the smART Gallery by the end of June.
