Music starts at 7:00 pm and ends by 9:00 pm. Free & all ages! Respect the shop and everyone around you. "Barbershop is in danger of growing stale. I'm taking it to strange new places."
Here's what the band have to say:
"Why are we doing our 100th show celebration in a barbershop of all places? Well, Calabrese's Barber Shop is incredibly important to the very foundation of this band. Jay Insult was getting his haircut there one day years back and Chris Calabrese told him that the apartment next door to the shop was going to be available if he knew anyone cool that wanted to move to downtown Keyport. It just so happened that Patski and his (then future-)wife Deborah were looking to move from New Brunswick, and they moved into the fantastic place.
Living in the same town once again made it much easier for Jay & Patski to follow through on the plan they had long discussed of starting a band together. It was in the attic of that apartment next door to the barbershop in the spring of 2015 that they began writing songs together, and over the next couple of weeks, were joined by Eric Truchan on drums and J Nixon on bass, completing the original lineup of what would come to be called Nervous Triggers. We wrote all of our earliest songs and had all of our earliest practices in that attic.
We are blown away that on 100 separate occasions (and counting), venues of all different sizes have given us a place to play our music. These songs have brought us on tour to 11 US states, as far west as Minneapolis, MN (RIP Triple Rock Social Club), and as far south as Gainesville, FL (shout out to The Fest). We have played 4 out of the 5 boroughs of New York City (we'll get to Bronx one of these days). And of course, we play all over our home state of NJ. At present, we have played shows in 10 of New Jersey's 21 counties, including our most frequent haunts in Asbury Park, New Brunswick, Jersey City, and Trenton.
But one thing we have never done is played these songs for an audience where they were written, and where the band was founded. We are so grateful to Chris and everyone at Calabrese's for opening their doors to our ridiculous idea of having a punk show in their space.
We are thrilled that our friend Mikey Erg will be joining us on the drums. Most bands are lucky if they have one good drummer. We have had the great fortune of playing with FOUR of the best drummers in NJ punk over the years: Eric Truchan, Chris Losavio, Mitch Cady, and Mikey Erg.
Mikey will also be gracing us all with a set of his fantastic solo songs played with his full band, including our own Gobo Pierce and our old pal & longtime supporter Fid. We played show number 1 opening for Mikey, Toys That K*ll, and Nato Coles & the Blue Diamond Band back on 06/24/2015, and we've played more shows with Mikey than any other artist, so there's no one we'd rather celebrate number 100 with!
