Learning hits different with a drink in your hand and smart people around you. Nerd Nite is a worldwide phenomenon, popping up in over a hundred cities, including right here in St. Pete.
Each month, three passionate presenters take the stage for fascinating and fun 20-minute talks on things they truly geek out about. You will get to sip cocktails, eat from local vendors, mingle, laugh, and follow curiosity wherever it wanders.
Think of it as a lecture series that ditched the podium and grabbed a beer instead.
Drink. Learn. Connect. Come for the fun facts, stay for the conversations, and leave knowing something you didn’t when you walked in.
Doors open at 6pm. Presentations begin promptly at 7pm.

Back to the Land: Conservation Burial and Environmental Land Conservation
Once upon a time it was said that the only certainties in life are death and taxes (Billionaires have successfully cut out the taxes certainty). This presentation discusses environmental land conservation in general and conservation burial specifically. Conservation burial gives us the option of returning to the earth naturally while preserving natural ecosystems.
Will Lorenzen loves walking and bilking through the woods. He is a founder of the Tampa Bay Conservancy (TBC) Land Trust working throughout the Bay Area and surrounding counties. Following the his work with TBC, Will was a project manager with the national conservation organization The Trust for Public Land (TPL) which purchases and conveys land to local governments as well as the federal government for perminent protection and public enjoyment as parks and preserves. Most recently Will is a family counselor and outreach coordinator with Heartwood Preserve and Conservation Cemetery. Will loves going to work in the woods everyday and having meaningful conversations about life and death with Heartwood Families.

Using Lessons from History to Shape Police Training
Did you know that German Police officers were complicit in the murders of millions of people during the Holocaust? Because of this, The Florida Holocaust Museum works with law enforcement agencies across the state of Florida to teach state and local officers the lessons of the Holocaust to stay vigilant against “just following orders”.
The FHM’s Senior Director of Education and Research, Ursula Szczepinska and St Pete Police Chief, Anthony Holloway, will co-present on this remarkable yet little known program.

A Psychologist's Case Against Inherited Love Stories
Most of us spent zero minutes consciously choosing monogamy and approximately 10,000 hours absorbing it from Disney movies, rom-coms, and whoever cast Ryan Gosling. As a psychologist, relationship coach, and author of 50 Questions To Ask Before Opening Your Relationship , I spend my days working with people who are questioning that rulebook or navigating relationship structures that come with a limited cultural roadmap. The conversations people exploring ethical non-monogamy and polyamory are forced to have — about beliefs, attachment, and what they actually want from love versus what they were taught to want — are conversations everyone deserves to have. This is a 15-minute, judgment-free, occasionally funny look at relationship autopilot, what it costs us, and the surprisingly simple questions that can change everything. No recruiting for polyamory, no relationship structure required — just a psychologist who has lived this herself and thinks the most loving thing you can do in a relationship is actually choose it.
Dr. Rachael Meir is a sex-positive, LGBTQIA+ affirming, and kink-aware psychologist and sex/relationship coach who helps people explore ethical non-monogamy — including polyamory, open relationships, and swinging — without fear of judgment, jealousy, or damaged relationships. As a bisexual woman in a polyamorous triad, she brings both personal and professional expertise to this work. Dr. Meir is the author of 50 Questions to Ask Before Opening Your Relationship, a practical and compassionate guide for individuals and couples navigating non-monogamy with confidence and clarity. When she's not challenging inherited love stories, Rachael can be found in Gulfport being bossed around by Tally, her miniature dachshund — proof that even a polyamory expert's household has at least one member still working on the jealousy thing.
