Needle-Felted Landscape Demo with Deanne Underwood

Throughout the afternoon, Deanne will be working on a piece in progress using felting techniques. Visitors are welcome to stop by, watch her process, ask questions, and learn more about working with wool as an artistic medium. While Deanne’s finished works combine both needle and wet felting, this demonstration will focus on the needle felting techniques she uses to build texture, depth, and detail in her landscapes.
This is a casual, drop-in opportunity to see an artist at work, learn more about contemporary fibre art, and chat with Deanne about her practice and inspiration. Whether you stay for a few minutes or the whole afternoon, you’ll see how wool fibres can be layered, shaped, and transformed into a richly textured landscape.
About your instructor: Deanne fell in love with art at a young age, engaging with many different mediums. She began teaching herself how to work with wool using wet and needle felting in 2020. What began as a passionate hobby grew into a full-time endeavor. Her pieces are full of vibrant colour and texture and depict a wide range of Canadian landscape with a special focus on Alberta and Saskatchewan.
