About this Event

Free | Drop-In Demonstration | Suitable for all ages!

Join felt artist Deanne Underwood for a drop-in artist demonstration and learn more about how she creates her felted landscapes inspired by the prairies, lakes, parkland, and mountain ranges of Western Canada.

Throughout the afternoon, Deanne will be working on a piece in progress using felting techniques. Visitors are welcome to stop by, watch her process, ask questions, and learn more about working with wool as an artistic medium. While Deanne’s finished works combine both needle and wet felting, this demonstration will focus on the needle felting techniques she uses to build texture, depth, and detail in her landscapes.

This is a casual, drop-in opportunity to see an artist at work, learn more about contemporary fibre art, and chat with Deanne about her practice and inspiration. Whether you stay for a few minutes or the whole afternoon, you’ll see how wool fibres can be layered, shaped, and transformed into a richly textured landscape.

About the Instructor

Deanne Underwood is an Edmonton-based fibre artist specializing in wet and needle-felted landscapes inspired by the Canadian Prairies, with a particular focus on Alberta and Saskatchewan. After exploring many artistic mediums throughout her life, she began working with wool in 2020 and quickly turned a passion into a full-time practice. Her vibrant, textured works have been exhibited across Alberta and Saskatchewan and can be found in galleries and collections throughout the region.
