Antibiotic Use in Clinical Dentistry: 2025 Update
Dentists and hygienists must make decisions every day about the need for therapeutic antibiotics and prophylaxis for medically compromised patients. Are you confused about when it is necessary to use antibiotic prophylaxis for patients with prosthetic joints, cardiac valve replacements, kidney dialysis, AV shunts, transplant patients and other medical conditions? This course will make you confident you are treating these patients appropriately.
The Oral Health Systemic Health Connection: What’s the Evidence?
This course will present the latest evidence supported by credible scientific studies to help dentists and hygienists understand how oral health impacts general health and how systemic medical conditions impact oral health. An emphasis will be placed on how to integrate this information into your practice and communicate the importance of oral health to overall health with patients. An overview of the interrelationship between periodontal disease and diabetes, cardiovascular health, stroke, cancer, pregnancy, respiratory diseases, rheumatoid arthritis, and Alzheimer’s disease will be discussed.
