NDDC Intra 2026: Navigating the Eternal Seas of Discourse
Since its inception in 1953, a total of 73 cycles have represented the Notre Dame Debating Club. Over the years, these voices have represented the Father of Debating in Bangladesh not only at home but also abroad. Every year, new voices to represent NDDC are sought through a collective effort of rigorous tests until the finest prevail.
Segments:
1. Turn the Coat (English)
A dynamic public speaking event where participants must switch sides on a given motion instantly mid-speech, testing their flexibility and mastery over English rhetoric.
2. Extempore Speech (Bangla)
Participants will deliver impromptu speeches in Bangla on topics drawn on the spot, with their analytical thinking, depth of knowledge, and spontaneous delivery evaluated.
3. International Relations (IR) Quiz
A segment designed to challenge participants on global politics, international affairs, diplomatic history, and current affairs.
4. Bangla Asian Parliamentary
The Selection Trial:
Candidates with promising wit and voices are gathered for a showdown to prove their worth. They battle with all their might, trying to pass each trial. They strive for the right to the prestigious armours: Gold, Blue, Silver, Green and Red. This is what the journey looks like:
Trial one:
The warriors battle in small teams of 3, with no guarantee that all of their men will move on. Some fall to weakness, some even to betrayal. In the end, only 18 remain.
Trial two:
The competition intensifies through unpredictable combinations and rigorous challenges, in which survival demands both skill and strategy. The field has been narrowed to the final 9.
Trial three:
The elite 9 are selected for the ultimate trial for glory. They must draw their elders' bows and shoot with precision. The elders handpick from among them and pass the Gold, Blue and Silver armours on. 6 others who fought valiantly but fell with honour are given the right to the Green and Red armours.
The Arena:
Format: Bangla Asian Parliamentary (3v3, 5-minute speech, 20-minute prep)
Platform: Offline (Palace of Odesseus)
Break: Top 18 to receive speakers' break
