Shruti Bujarbaruah (khayal)
Shruti Bujarbaruah is an Indian classical vocalist proficient in thumri, dadra, abhang, bhajan and ghazal. She can sing in multiple languages including Assamese, Hindi, English, Bengali and Marathi. Born and raised in Assam, she started her journey in music at the age of four under the guidance of her parents. She has completed the Sangeet Visharad and Sangeet Alankar from Bhatkhande Sangit Vidyapith, Lucknow. Over the years, Bujarbaruah has learnt under the guidance of Vijay Koparkar and Pratima Tilak. She has performed at festivals and music conferences across the country. She made her debut as a playback singer in 2009 with Jay Jadu Nandan, an Assamese devotional album and since then has lent her voice to various Marathi and Hindi tracks as well.
With an aim to connect with the new generation and showcase the global power of Indian classical music, she has conceptualised Bandish & Beyond, an album that reimagines traditional bandish in a contemporary soundscape.
