NC Prescribed Fire Council Annual Meeting 2026

Join the North Carolina Prescribed Fire Council our 2026 Annual Meeting at the Comfort Inn South Oceanfront in Nags, Head, NC.

The North Carolina Prescribed Fire Council will host our 2026 Annual Meeting in the Coastal Plain region!

Meeting Schedule:

• Meeting August 26, Comfort Inn South Oceanfront (coffee and light snacks provided, lunch will not be provided and a list of nearby restaurants can be found here ) A draft agenda will be available soon.
• Social August 26 (Drink tickets provided), Swells'a Brewing
• Field trip August 27, Nags Head Woods (snacks provided)

There is a hotel room blocks available at the Comfort Inn South Oceanfront. Reservations must be made by July 26 with no exceptions to recieve the room block price.

Society of American Foresters CFEs will be available for both the meeting and field trip.

A silent auction will be held at the in-person meeting, and those with items to donate should contact Crystal Cockman at [email protected]. There will also be a photo slideshow for both in-person and virtual attendees, and those with photos to contribute can send them to Devin Walker at [email protected].

We will hold a PPE drive to benefit the University of North Carolina Wilmington fire program. If you have usable condition PPE of any size to donate, please bring it to the meeting.

Attendance Options

There are several options for meeting attendance. Prices are based on the membership fee structure outlined on the PFC website. We do plan to provide a virtual attendance option in which attendees can watch the meeting live via Zoom. In-person meeting attendance includes coffee and snacks as well as the evening social.

• In-Person Meeting: Regular Annual Member* - $55
• In-Person Meeting: Current Lifetime Member - $40
• In-Person Meeting: New Lifetime Member - $190
• In-Person Meeting: Current Student Member - $40
• In-Person Meeting: New Student Member** - $65
• Virtual Meeting: Regular Annual Member* - $15
• Virtual Meeting: Current Lifetime Member - Free
• Virtual Meeting: New Lifetime Member - $150
• Virtual Meeting: Current Student Member - Free
• Virtual Meeting: New Student Member** - $25

* Regular annual membership lasts for one year and is included with this ticket

** Student membership is included with this ticket and is valid for 4 years

Field trip attendance is an additional $13 which includes transportation to field sites, and light snacks. When registering, be sure to select the field trip add-on if you plan to attend. Virtual attendees may still attend the (in-person) field trip (but will also need to select it as an add-on to their ticket).

We understand that the cost of attendance may be a barrier for some, and scholarships are available. Contact PFC Vice-President Devin Walker ([email protected]) or Laurel Kays ([email protected]) with scholarship needs, questions about the meeting or field trip, and any other concerns.

Refund Policy

To receive a refund, you must cancel your attendance by contacting [email protected] by August 19. Refunds will not include an administrative fee equal to the cost of membership (ex. $15 for typical annual membership).

If you feel ill at the time of the meeting, any fees that had been paid for in-person or field trip participation can be refunded and registration will be converted to a virtual participant. Contact [email protected].
