The North Carolina Concealed Handgun Course is a state-mandated training requirement for anyone applying for a North Carolina Concealed Handgun Permit. But at Family Defender Institute of NC, we believe this course should be far more than a box-checking exercise.
This class is designed to ensure you understand:
North Carolina concealed carry laws — where you can carry, where you cannot, and how the law actually works in real life
Safe firearm handling and storage, including legal responsibilities
Use-of-force principles and decision-making under stress
Practical defensive considerations, not just theory
Your responsibilities before, during, and after a defensive encounter
The course includes:
A full 8 hours of instruction, as required by North Carolina law
Live-fire qualification, conducted safely and professionally
Clear guidance on the permit application process after you complete the course
