About this Event
Navigating the Crossroads: When Art and Technology Intersects and Diverges
Aristotle cautioned that tools could undermine craftsmanship if they replaced skill and judgment. In that simple insight, he captured a tension that continues to define every age. How do we preserve human values amid waves of innovation? From the earliest mediums of writing and painting to the printing press, photography, cinema, and now artificial intelligence, each new tool has challenged storytellers to decide whether they should adopt, adapt, or resist.
In this talk, Peabody-nominated and Emmy Award-winning director Michaela Ternasky-Holland examines how storytellers today navigate that same crossroads. Drawing from her pioneering work in virtual reality and generative AI, she will explore how creatives can strategically “pull” from technology without being overwhelmed by the “push” of technological trends.
