Workshop Description:
Join Dr. Constance Abruzzese for a DBT and Behaviorism grounded approached to supporting at-risk individuals.
This interactive workshop equips clinicians with essential knowledge and tools to understand, assess, and intervene in cases of suicide and non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI). Participants will explore the underlying risk factors, functions, and psychological drivers behind these behaviors. The workshop will guide attendees through best practices in assessment and clinical documentation, equipping them with effective risk management strategies to enhance their practice and support at-risk individuals.
Workshop Objectives:
As a result of this workshop, participants will be better able to
- Identify key risk factors for suicide
- Develop skills in assessing suicide risk and NSSI
- Learn effective strategies for managing imminent suicide risk
- Enhance clinical documentation and communication regarding suicide and NSSI
- Implement comprehensive safety planning and intervention techniques

Presenter:
Dr. Constance Abruzzese (), is a licensed clinical psychologist, a nationally certified school psychologist, an Assistant Professor of Medical Psychology at CUIMC and was an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Psychology and Education at Teachers College, Columbia University.

3 live, online CE contact hours will be awarded to NY, NJ, and CT licensed social workers*, NY psychologists* , and NY mental health counselors *who have met the attendance requirements below.
Social Workers: CSSW is recognized by the New York State Education Department's State Board for Social Work as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed social workers. Provider #SW‐0021
*Social workers from other states, please confirm with your state licensing board. Please note that we do not specify type of credits (general, cultural competence, clinical, etc.) Many states have recognized Columbia University School of Social Work continuing education hours as we are a CSWE accredited institution and approved by the NYS Education Department to provide continuing education.

CE Attendance Requirements
Please note that in order to receive your continuing education certificate, you must attend the entire workshop and complete the evaluation in accordance to NYSED regulations. There is a 10 minute grace period. Any participant who arrives/logs in past 6:40 PM OR leaves/logs out earlier than 9:20 PM will not receive CE credits. Refunds are not provided for late arrivals or early departures. Please plan accordingly.
CE Distribution: Evaluation and Certificate forms will be distributed via email within 1 week following the event to those meeting the attendance requirements above.
