A nature, art, and storytelling event from the Takoma Park Cooperative Nursery School!
About this Event

Thank you for your interest in 'Nature's Stories', a community-focused fundraising event hosted by the Takoma Park Cooperative Nursery School! All proceeds from this event go towards making sure that outdoor education can continue to thrive in Takoma Park!

TPCNS is an all outdoor school that focuses on equity in nature, and we want to share some of our favorite things- nature, art, and storytelling- with the Takoma Park and surrounding communities.

After you check in at the event, and check out our gorgeous school merchandise from Kind Cotton, all children in attendance will have the opportunity to make multiple nature crafts and go on a scavenger hunt. This is followed by a very special invitation to create a story together as a group and using your newly-made crafts with TPCNS' Director and Lead Teacher, Lesley Romanoff!

An added bonus: every child will go home with a nature-themed book, thanks to a generous donation from Kind Cotton! There is also a playground at the park and light snacks and drinks will be available.

A few things to note:

  • Paid tickets are for children ages 2yrs and older. Each paid ticket includes all arts and crafts created at the event, snacks and drinks, and 1 nature-themed book per child. Children under 2yrs and adults: please register under the 'Free' ticket add-on (snacks and drinks are available to 'Free' ticket holders as well). Also, it's highly recommneded that you purchase tickets online ahead of time as there will be a limited number of all tickets available day of.
  • There are two entrances to the park: one off of Carroll Avenue, and one off of Hancock Avenue in Takoma Park, MD. Both will be accessible the day of the event.
  • Parking: while there is street parking in the area, we do ask those who live closer, and are able to, to either walk or bike to the venue so that we don't take away from the parking needed for residents who live nearby and those traveling from further away.
  • Food: we will have prepackaged snacks and drinks available, including allergy-friendly options. The snacks and drinks are included with the purchase of your ticket.
  • Please consider, if you have the means, making an additional donation to the school, and/or purchase an additional ticket for families who otherwise wouldn't be able to attend (both options are available under ticket 'add-ons'). And, if you would like to support the school but aren't able to attend the event, there is an option to do that as well.
  • If you are a family who needs free tickets in order to attend, please contact TPCNS' Fundraising Director, Christina Murdoch, at [email protected].
