About this Event
We've partnered with GALLANT and the University of Glasgow for this nature walk to look out for nature along the Kelvin Walkway this Spring.
CommuniMap is an innovative new community science app developed through the GALLANT project at the University of Glasgow. communiMap invites you to see your local area through fresh eyes – tuning in to nature, movement, and the everyday rhythms that shape where you live. Whether you’re walking, wheeling, composting at home, or simply noticing the trees on your street, your observations help shape a collective story of local life.
This gentle walk offers a wonderful opportunity to connect with nature, learn about local wildlife, and enjoy the changing seasons by the riverside. We'll share stories and invite you to share your personal experiences in nature. Tell us about your connection to these green spaces and what makes them special to you.
As we walk from the Botanics down along the River Kelvin we’ll keep an eye out for a variety of bird species that call the river corridor home. With a bit of luck, we may even catch a glimpse of the striking kingfisher flashing along the water’s edge. We'll also be looking out for the signs of Spring and observing the changes that the season brings by looking at trees and plantlife.
This walk is suitable for beginners and nature enthusiasts alike.
This a FREE event open to all ages and is perfect for anyone who wants to get out to enjoy nature and a walk. The walk will take place at a relaxed pace with regular stops.
