Nature Unplugged Community Hike—February

Community hikes are a time to get together with old friends and make new ones. It’s a time to unplug from our devices, breathe in the fresh air and connect with the world around us. We’re committed to creating a community that values time outside, together—and that’s why we host these free, organized monthly hikes around San Diego.
While these hikes are offered at no cost, we do require registration. Your registration lets us know you're coming so that we can look for you at the trailhead. In advance of the hike, we'll also send you an email with helpful information including things like directions, parking tips, the weather outlook and what to bring.

HIKE DETAILS | Planning & Prep

We will be hiking to Annie's Canyon via the Santa Carina Trial. Explore this approx. 3.5-mile out and back in Solana Beach, California. Generally considered an easy route. Note that there is a short section of this hike that is moderate/difficult (through the slot canyon) but this part can be skipped. This is a popular area for hiking and running, so you'll likely encounter other people while exploring. Dogs are not recommended on Annie's Canyon trail. They are allowed in other parts of the park but must be kept on a leash.

ARRIVAL TIME: Please plan to arrive at 8:15 am. The hike will begin promptly at 8:30 am.

PARKING: We'll be meeting at the Santa Carina Trailhead located where Santa Carina (the street) dead ends. Parking is free and available on the street near the trailhead.

ITEMS TO BRING

• Comfortable shoes to walk in
• Weather appropriate clothing
• Sun protection (Hat, Sunscreen, Sunglasses, Lip balm with SPF)
• Water
• Backpack (optional)
• Binoculars for wildlife/birding (optional)
